Create your first digital product: start with one task
A practical path from an audience and problem to a small file someone can test.

Choose a user and a situation
Start with a specific person and task. A freelancer planning several client projects is clearer than everyone who wants to be productive. Find out what the person is trying to do, where they get stuck and what information they need. Write this down before selecting colors or formats.
Define what the file helps them do
Choose a small outcome you can test: plan next week, collect ideas for three posts or check a product delivery. Explain what the user does in the file. A fictional example can demonstrate the workflow, but identify it as an example.
Build the smallest useful version
Add a title, short instructions and the fields needed for the task. State the format and software requirements. An editable HTML file, PDF and CSV serve different purposes. Check readability and whether the user can save their work.
Test with a real user
Ask someone to complete the task without explaining every step. Note where they get stuck, improve a confusing instruction and try again. Opening the file successfully and understanding how to use it are separate checks.
Prepare the presentation and delivery
Use your own screenshots and describe exactly what is included. Check rights and arrange your own sales channel, payments and delivery. Exhale Start provides templates and guidance; it does not automatically sell your product for you.
